Project
SensONE T80
Purpose-built for Universal Robots' heavy cobots. The SensONE T80 bolts directly onto UR20 and UR30 with zero adapter plates: 703 g, 4,000 N range, 0.3 N noise. It gives heavy cobots the force sensitivity they need for palletising, bolt tightening, and welding.
Product Design
Co-designed the SensONE T80 with ISO-9409-1-80-6-M8 flanges that match UR20/UR30 bolt patterns directly: no adapter, no added compliance, no wasted payload capacity. 4,000 N range, 80 Nm torque, 0.3 N peak-to-peak noise.

Protocol Stack & Integration
A comprehensive protocol stack (PoE Ethernet, EtherCAT, RS422/485/232, Modbus, USB) lets the sensor speak whichever protocol the customer's automation architecture already uses, without a conversion layer. Paired with UR's flange geometry, it drops into UR20/UR30 cells without custom mounting or middleware.

Challenges
- Adapter plates add mass, compliance, and a potential failure point. Eliminating them required matching UR's flange geometry exactly, while preserving the sensing structure's performance: a tighter mechanical constraint than a universal-fit design.
- Supporting six communication protocols meant the electronics and firmware had to stay flexible without inflating cost or board area.
Outcomes
- True plug-and-play integration with UR20 and UR30. Adopted for heavy palletising, bolt tightening, and welding across industrial automation.
- Single SKU covers six communication protocols, reducing custom-firmware variants and inventory on the customer side.
